Tajikistan president Eamoli Rahmon ordered the deployment of 20,000 reservists the border with Afghanistan on July the fifth.
Tajikistan envoy in CSTO Hasan Sultonov said that his country is having a hard time dealing with the worsening security challenges and desperately needs to be backed by its allies in the region.
Soltonov cited the 2013 resolution among the state members to be implemented and provide assistance in the border with Afghanistan.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week had assured his Tajikistani counterpart of Kremlin military support as violation rages in the north of neighboring Afghanistan.
The concerns of Tajikistan come a day after foreign ministers of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, UN envoy to central Asia, and head of UNAMA pledged assistance to Afghanistan in cooperation with the UN during a videoconference over central Asia.
Participants of the conference exchanged views on Afghanistan’s security issue, peace process, and economic developments.
Prior to this, Uzbekistan too had expressed its concerns over the recent rise in violation in northern Afghanistan and feared the situation to stretch to its borders.
