The leader of the Wisdom Movement, Sayyed Ammar al-Hakim, called Thursday for the launch of a comprehensive national campaign to combat illiteracy and benefit from successful experiences in countries around the world.
Sayyed Al-Hakim said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency INA, that “a comprehensive national campaign must be launched to combat illiteracy and benefit from successful experiences in the region and the world.”
He pointed out that “the recent statistics showed that the illiteracy rate in Iraq has reached 13%, according to the Ministry of Planning, which calls for great concern about this percentage,” stressing the need to “confront this dangerous scourge, and launching investment and the private sector to create infrastructure from school buildings and others to accommodate these numbers are especially in rural areas.
