Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal said on Sunday the governorate seeks to vaccinate 1.7 million children against polio during the current three-day national campaign.
The governor gave the remarks while giving go-ahead to the campaign that comes as part of keenness to raise the societal immunity of children against the disease.
The campaign aims to vaccinate children from one day to five years of age, both Egyptian and non-Egyptian children residing in Egypt, he further said.
Vaccination will be done through 4,840 medical teams comprising members trained at the highest level, he said.
He said mobile teams will be deployed near mosques, churches, clubs, marketplaces, train and metro stations and public parks to ensure vaccination of targeted children.
