Local council member in Batken caught on drug dealing with Tajik partners, 50kg of drugs and $250,000 seized

State National Security Committee said June 9 it has caught the international drug gang and seized 50kg of drugs and $250,000.

Organizers of the drug gang were Tajik drug dealers and O.M.B., a member of the local council of the Kadamjay district of Batken region.

O.M.B. was detained while trying to sell another batch of drugs meant for Uzbekistan during a special operation on June 7 in the town of Kadamjai.

In addition, the law enforcers searched the car and place of residence of the local MP and his brother. As a result, 37.5 kg of marijuana, 9 kg of raw opium, 4 kg of hashish, a weapon without license, $232,000, 42,299,500 Uzbek soms and 106,000 Kyrgyz soms were found.

3 suspects were taken to the Batken detention facility.

Investigative work in order to find the organizer of the drug channel among the citizens of Tajikistan is under way.
